Order a Prescription

Whichever method you use for ordering a repeat prescription, please allow 24 hours for us to process the request. If you need it sooner then please tell reception so they can alert the doctor

How to order your repeat prescription

  • NHS App
The easiest way to order a repeat prescription is via the NHS App. You can download this here. Once downloaded you will need to link the app to your medical record. Please email reception if you are having any difficulties with this.
  • eConsultation
Another straightforward way of requesting repeat medication is via eConsultation. In addition, regular prescriptions such as for the contraceptive pill or for minor ailments can be accessed in this manner. Please see the section on eConsultations for more information.
  • Online
Alternatively, you can register for online services. Simply log in to the online portal and visit the medication section. You then tick the prescriptions you want. If the medication you need is not on the list then use the ‘make a custom request’ section and type your request in the box
  • By email
You can email reception to request repeat medications at [email protected].  Requests for medications that are not on repeat or that require a GP review may be declined.  You might be asked to book an appointment with a GP to discuss the request or to review your medication.  Please look out for an email response from our reception team.
  • In person
You can do this by returning the right-hand half of a previous prescription for the required medications, or by submitting a handwritten request. Please put this repeat prescription request in the box on the reception desk.
  • By post
You can post your prescription slip or written request to us at the practice. You can include a stamped addressed envelope for return by post if you will not be able to pick up your prescription from the surgery.
  • Phone
We are unable to accept repeat prescription requests by telephone.

nstead of issuing a green hand signed paper prescription, the doctor can now send the prescription electronically to your chosen pharmacist.

This means you don’t have to come back to the surgery to pick up the prescription, but you can go straight to the pharmacist and pick up your medicine.

This works even better if you request the medicine online as it means you can miss out on two trips to the practice.

You can nominate your pharmacy:
– Visiting your regular pharmacy and signing up for electronic prescribing.
– the receptionist at the practice to register your chosen pharmacy.
– You can also change your nominated pharmacy through the online portal under the medication section and then click on ‘change pharmacy’. However you cannot make the initial nomination online.

The doctors at the practice regularly review the medication you are taking. They will sometimes call you in for a medication review and this may involve blood tests. It is very important that you attend these appointments, as it keeps you safe whilst taking medication.
